Fair Trade

What is Fair Trade? Although it continues to be more available, only a few products are found certified by the Fair Trade Federation. According to Green America, “Fair Trade is a system of exchange that honors producers, communities, consumers, and the environment. It is a model for the global economy rooted in people-to-people connections, justice, and sustainability.” In other words, it helps hold a high standard for economic practices, to insure that all are treated with respect, paid fair wages, given the proper rights by enforcing health and safety laws, while also contributing responsibly to the conservation of the environment.

There are Four Main Types of Fair Trade Certifications:

  • Fair Trade Federation
  • World Fair Trade Organization
  • Faire Trade Certified
  • Fair for Life
